Through-space electron transfer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012041
A mechanism of electron transfer between a donor and an acceptor molecule where the electron moves directly through the intervening space, rather than through chemical bonds. This process does not involve the covalent framework of the molecules connecting the donor and acceptor. The rate of through-space electron transfer decreases exponentially with increasing distance between the donor and acceptor.
