Electron exchange excitation transfer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003724
A mechanism of electronic energy transfer between a donor and an acceptor molecule that requires direct overlap of their electron clouds. This process, also known as Dexter excitation transfer, involves a simultaneous exchange of electrons between the excited donor and the ground state acceptor. It is typically a short-range phenomenon, effective at distances less than 1 nanometer.
