Electron flooding
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003725
A technique used in surface analysis, particularly in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), to neutralize positive charge buildup on insulating samples during electron emission. A low-energy electron beam is directed onto the sample surface to compensate for the emitted photoelectrons. This prevents peak shifts and distortions in the acquired spectra.
