Electron emission spectrometry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003720

A spectroscopic technique that analyzes the kinetic energy and intensity of electrons emitted from a sample when it is irradiated with X-rays, ultraviolet light, or an electron beam. This method provides information about the elemental composition, chemical states, and electronic structure of the sample's surface. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) are common forms.
