Auger electron spectroscopy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000947
A surface-sensitive analytical technique that identifies elements present in the top few atomic layers of a material by detecting Auger electrons emitted after excitation by an electron beam. The kinetic energies of these emitted electrons are characteristic of the elements from which they originate. This method provides elemental composition and chemical state information from the outermost atomic layers.
