Auger electron yield

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000949

The probability that an inner-shell vacancy in an atom will be filled by an electron transition that results in the emission of an Auger electron, rather than a characteristic X-ray photon. This yield is dependent on the atomic number of the element and the specific electron shell involved. For light elements, the Auger electron yield is generally higher than the fluorescence yield.
