Auger yield
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000954
The probability that an excited atom, following the creation of a core hole, will de-excite by emitting an Auger electron rather than a photon (X-ray fluorescence). It is a dimensionless quantity ranging from 0 to 1. The Auger yield is generally higher for lighter elements and for core holes in outer shells.
