Valence-band spectrum
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012503
A plot of the intensity of emitted electrons as a function of their kinetic energy or binding energy, specifically originating from the valence band of a material. This spectrum is obtained using techniques such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) or ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). It provides information about the electronic structure and chemical bonding within the valence orbitals of atoms in a solid.
