Ion-scattering spectrum
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006145
A plot of the intensity of scattered ions as a function of their kinetic energy, obtained from an ion scattering spectrometry experiment. The positions of the peaks in the spectrum correspond to the masses of the surface atoms from which the primary ions scattered. The spectrum provides elemental composition information about the outermost atomic layer of a solid material.
