Valence transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012502
A phase transition in a solid material characterized by a change in the average valence state of one of its constituent elements. This alteration in electronic configuration affects the material's physical and chemical properties. Such transitions are observed in certain rare-earth compounds and transition metal oxides.
