Rydberg transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010465
An electronic transition in an atom or molecule where an electron moves from a valence orbital to a Rydberg orbital. These transitions are characterized by sharp, regularly spaced spectral lines that converge towards an ionization limit. The energy levels of Rydberg transitions can be described by the Rydberg formula.
