Rydberg constant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010462
A fundamental physical constant that relates to the electromagnetic spectra of atoms. It represents the maximum wavenumber of any photon that can be emitted by a hydrogen atom, or the wavenumber of the lowest-energy photon capable of ionizing a hydrogen atom from its ground state. Its value is approximately 1.097 x 10^7 m^-1.
