  "definition": "A measure of spatial frequency, defined as the number of waves per unit length or the reciprocal of the wavelength. It is directly proportional to the energy of a photon and is particularly useful in spectroscopy for characterizing electromagnetic radiation. The SI unit for wavenumber is the reciprocal meter (m⁻¹), though reciprocal centimeters (cm⁻¹) are also widely used.",
