Raman wavenumber shift

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009914

The difference in wavenumber between the incident monochromatic radiation and the scattered Raman radiation. This value directly corresponds to the energy of the molecular vibrational modes involved in the scattering process. It is typically expressed in reciprocal centimeters (cm⁻¹) and is a fundamental parameter in Raman spectroscopy for characterizing molecular structure.
