Molecular Rydberg state
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007515
An excited electronic state of a molecule where one electron is promoted to a high-lying orbital, resembling a Rydberg orbital in an atom. These states are characterized by large principal quantum numbers and diffuse electron distributions. The energy levels of molecular Rydberg states often converge to an ionization limit.
