Molecular recognition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007514
The specific interaction between two or more molecules through non-covalent forces, such as hydrogen bonding, van der Waals forces, electrostatic interactions, and hydrophobic effects. This interaction leads to the formation of a stable complex with a defined stoichiometry and geometry. It is a fundamental principle in biological systems, governing processes like enzyme-substrate binding and antibody-antigen interactions.
