Bioadhesion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001242
The process by which a natural or synthetic material adheres to a biological surface, such as tissue or a mucous membrane. This adhesion is mediated by interfacial forces, which may include covalent bonding, electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonding, or van der Waals forces. The strength of bioadhesion is measured as the force or work required to separate the material from the biological substrate.
