Metamagnetic transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007261
A magnetic phase transition where a material, initially in an antiferromagnetic or paramagnetic state, undergoes a sudden change to a ferromagnetic state upon application of a strong external magnetic field. This transition is characterized by a sharp increase in magnetization at a specific critical field strength. Such behavior is observed in certain intermetallic compounds and oxides, like FeRh alloys.
