Ferroic transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004386
A phase transition in a material that results in the appearance of a spontaneous tensor property, such as magnetization, polarization, or strain, which can be reoriented by an external field. The material exhibits multiple equivalent orientation states below the transition temperature. This general classification includes ferroelectric, ferromagnetic, and ferroelastic transitions.
