Ferroelectric polymer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004384
A polymer that exhibits a spontaneous, stable electric polarization that can be reversed by applying an external electric field. This property arises from the alignment of permanent electric dipoles within the crystalline regions of the material. Poly(vinylidene fluoride), PVDF, and its copolymers are the most well-known examples of ferroelectric polymers, requiring an electric field of about 50 MV/m to switch polarization.
