Electrostriction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003797
The deformation of a dielectric material when subjected to an electric field, resulting in a change in its dimensions. This phenomenon arises from the interaction between the electric field and the induced or permanent dipoles within the material. The effect is proportional to the square of the electric field strength.
