Dielectric material

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003153

A substance that is an electrical insulator and can be polarized by an applied electric field, storing electrical energy. In polymers, this property arises from the ability of molecular dipoles to align with the field, or from induced dipoles. Dielectric polymers are widely used in capacitors, electrical insulation, and electronic packaging due to their low conductivity and high breakdown strength.
