Fluoropolymers
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004536
Polymers that contain fluorine atoms covalently bonded to their carbon backbone. The presence of fluorine imparts unique properties such as high thermal stability, chemical inertness, low friction, and excellent dielectric properties. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a well-known example of a fluoropolymer, widely used in non-stick coatings and electrical insulation.
