Fluorosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004537
A condition resulting from excessive intake of fluoride, primarily affecting the development of teeth and bones. Dental fluorosis manifests as discoloration, pitting, or mottling of tooth enamel, while skeletal fluorosis involves bone pain, stiffness, and increased bone density. The severity of fluorosis depends on the dose, duration, and timing of fluoride exposure, with endemic fluorosis occurring in regions with high natural fluoride levels in drinking water.
