Fluorous
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004538
Relating to compounds or phases that are highly fluorinated, meaning a substantial portion of their hydrogen atoms have been replaced by fluorine atoms. These materials exhibit unique properties such as high density, low surface tension, and immiscibility with both aqueous and organic solvents. Perfluorinated compounds, where all hydrogens are replaced by fluorine, are a prime example of fluorous substances.
