Charge neutralization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012968

The process of compensating for the accumulation of electrostatic charge on the surface of an insulating or semiconducting sample during surface analysis techniques, such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. This charge buildup can distort spectral peaks and hinder accurate analysis. It is typically achieved by introducing low-energy electrons or ions to the sample surface.
