Singlet state
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010903
An electronic state of an atom or molecule where all electron spins are paired, resulting in a total spin angular momentum of zero. In this state, the spin multiplicity, calculated as 2S+1 (where S is the total spin quantum number), is equal to one. Many organic molecules exist in a singlet ground state.
