Nucleotide bases
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008142
The nitrogen-containing aromatic compounds that are the fundamental components of nucleotides, which in turn form the building blocks of deoxyribonucleic acids (DNA) and ribonucleic acids (RNA). The primary bases are adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), thymine (T) in DNA, and uracil (U) replacing thymine in RNA. These bases pair specifically to form the double helix structure of DNA.
