Nucleosides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008141

Organic molecules composed of a nitrogenous base (a purine or pyrimidine) covalently linked to a five-carbon sugar (ribose or deoxyribose) via a beta-N-glycosidic bond. They are the building blocks of nucleotides, which in turn form nucleic acids. Adenosine and guanosine are examples of common nucleosides.
