CA3-pyramidal cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001560
A type of excitatory neuron found in the CA3 region of the hippocampus, distinguished by its pyramidal cell body. These neurons receive input from the dentate gyrus and project to the CA1 region, forming recurrent collateral connections within CA3 itself. This recurrent connectivity is thought to be involved in pattern completion and associative memory.
