Associative ionization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000846
An ionization process where two neutral atoms or molecules collide and combine to form a single molecular ion, releasing an electron. This reaction typically occurs when the sum of the internal energies of the colliding species exceeds the ionization energy of the resulting molecule. It is a type of chemi-ionization.
