CA1-pyramidal cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001559
A type of principal neuron located in the Cornu Ammonis 1 (CA1) field of the hippocampus in the brain. These cells receive major excitatory input from the CA3-pyramidal cells via the Schaffer collateral pathway and project primarily to the subiculum and entorhinal cortex. Due to their specific connectivity and receptor profile, CA1-pyramidal cells are particularly vulnerable to damage from ischemia and excitotoxicity.
