C1 inhibitor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001558

A plasma protein that regulates the classical and lectin pathways of the complement system, as well as the contact and fibrinolytic systems. It inactivates C1r and C1s proteases of the C1 complex, preventing uncontrolled activation of the complement cascade. Deficiency in this inhibitor leads to hereditary angioedema.
