Inhibition constant

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005847

The dissociation constant describing how tightly an inhibitor binds its target enzyme, given at equilibrium by the product of the free enzyme and free inhibitor concentrations divided by the concentration of the complex. Its numerical value equals the inhibitor concentration at which half of the enzyme is bound. Unlike the IC50, it does not change with substrate concentration, so a smaller Ki means tighter binding.
