Wernicke’s area

A region of the brain located in the posterior part of the superior temporal gyrus, primarily in the dominant hemisphere. This area is involved in the comprehension of spoken and written language. Damage to Wernicke's area can result in receptive aphasia, where individuals have difficulty understanding language.
