Wernicke aphasia

A language disorder characterized by fluent but meaningless speech and a severe impairment in understanding spoken and written language. Individuals produce grammatically complex sentences filled with non-existent or irrelevant words, a phenomenon known as jargon aphasia, and they show a profound deficit in comprehension. The condition results from damage to Wernicke's area, located in the posterior superior temporal gyrus of the dominant cerebral hemisphere.
