Amnesic shellfish poisoning

A human illness caused by consuming shellfish contaminated with domoic acid, a neurotoxin produced by certain marine diatoms. Symptoms include gastrointestinal distress, headache, confusion, and memory loss, particularly short-term memory. Severe cases can lead to seizures, coma, and even death due to excitotoxicity in the brain.
