Diarrheal shellfish poisoning

A gastrointestinal illness caused by consuming shellfish contaminated with toxins produced by certain marine dinoflagellates. These toxins, primarily okadaic acid and its derivatives, inhibit protein phosphatases in intestinal cells, leading to increased fluid secretion and diarrhea. Symptoms typically appear within 30 minutes to a few hours after ingestion.
