Neurotoxic shellfish poisoning

An illness caused by consuming shellfish contaminated with brevetoxins, potent neurotoxins produced by certain marine dinoflagellates, particularly Karenia brevis. Symptoms include neurological effects such as tingling, numbness, ataxia, and reversal of hot and cold sensations. This poisoning is distinct from paralytic shellfish poisoning, which involves different toxins.
