Ciguateratoxin poisoning

An intoxication resulting from the ingestion of fish contaminated with ciguatoxins, potent neurotoxins produced by marine dinoflagellates. These toxins accumulate in the flesh of reef fish and can cause a range of symptoms, including gastrointestinal distress, neurological dysfunction, and cardiovascular abnormalities. The primary ciguatoxin responsible is ciguatoxin-1.
