Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005307

A process that applies gas pressure equally from all directions to a component at high temperature, usually above 600 degrees Celsius, to close internal pores and densify it. Argon is the common pressurizing gas, held in a sealed vessel, and loose powders are first enclosed in a deformable can unless the part already has closed porosity. It is applied to ceramics, metal powders and castings.
