Hinge region
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005306
A flexible polypeptide segment within an antibody molecule, located between the Fab and Fc regions of the heavy chains. This region allows for conformational changes and segmental flexibility of the antibody arms, enabling efficient binding to antigens. The length and amino acid composition of the hinge region vary among different immunoglobulin classes.
