Explant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004232
A piece of tissue or an organ removed from a living organism and transferred to an artificial medium for in vitro culture. This technique allows for the study of cells in their natural tissue architecture, outside the complex environment of the whole organism. Explant culture is widely applied in toxicology and developmental biology to assess the effects of chemical compounds on specific tissues under controlled laboratory conditions.
