Spin system
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011205
A collection of interacting nuclear spins within a molecule that are coupled through scalar (J) or dipolar interactions. The behavior of these spins is described by quantum mechanics, influencing the appearance of signals in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra. A simple spin system might involve two coupled protons, resulting in a doublet signal for each.
