Macroradical
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013250
A macromolecule that also functions as a radical, meaning it possesses one or more unpaired electrons. These reactive species are intermediates in many polymerization processes, particularly free-radical polymerization, where they are the propagating chain ends that add monomer units. The presence and concentration of macroradicals can be detected and quantified using techniques such as electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy.
