Paramagnetic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008449
Describing a substance that is weakly attracted to an external magnetic field due to the presence of unpaired electrons. These unpaired electrons align their magnetic moments with the applied field, resulting in a net magnetic moment. Paramagnetism is measured by magnetic susceptibility, which is positive for paramagnetic materials.
