Dispersed phase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003299
The phase in a non-uniform system consisting of finely divided particles, droplets, or domains distributed throughout a continuous phase. In polymer systems, this can be solid polymer particles in a liquid, liquid monomer droplets in an aqueous medium, or domains of one polymer within a matrix of another. In an oil-in-water emulsion polymerization, the monomer droplets constitute the dispersed phase, while the aqueous solution is the continuous phase.
