Precipitation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009347

The process of forming a solid from a solution, either by a chemical reaction that produces an insoluble compound or by exceeding the solubility limit of a dissolved substance. The solid formed is called a precipitate, and it separates from the liquid phase. This phenomenon is widely used in chemical synthesis, analytical chemistry, and wastewater treatment.
