Precipitation

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002898

The process by which a solid forms and separates from a liquid solution. In drilling fluids, precipitation can occur when dissolved salts exceed their solubility limits or when incompatible chemicals are mixed, leading to the formation of insoluble solids. This phenomenon can cause issues such as lost circulation, formation damage, or reduced drilling fluid performance.
