Precipitation

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-021873

1. In analytic chemistry, the process of producing a separable solid phase within a liquid medium.

2. Water droplets or ice particles in the form of rain or snow, condensed from atmospheric water vapor.

3. (pre-SIP-uh-TAY-shun) The process by which atmospheric moisture falls onto a land or water surface as rain, snow, hail, or other forms of moisture.

4. The chemical transformation of a substance in solution into an insoluble form (precipitate).

5. Water falling to the Earth. Mist, sleet, rain, hail, fog and snow (wet deposition) are the most common kinds of precipitation.

6. A part of the hydrologic cycle during which condensed water vapor in the air falls to the ground in the form of rain, snow, sleet, and so forth.

7. Removal of hazardous solids from liquid waste to permit safe disposal; removal of particles from airborne emissions as in rain (e.g. acid precipitation).

8. Rain, hail, mist, sleet, snow, or any other moisture that falls to the Earth.

9. The collection of water molecules that falls from the sky as rain, sleet, hail, or snow.

10. Rain, snow, sleet or hail that falls to the ground.

11. Average and extreme rates of rain, hail, mist, sleet, snow, or any other moisture.

12. The process that separates solids from a solution.
